The Gift of Imagination: Passing on Creativity to the Next Generation
While speaking in Kenya last month, I had the honor of presenting a special gift to Raymond Ouma, the Secretary of Youth Affairs. This gift embodied my mission of inspiring creativity in young minds.
I gave Raymond a wooden Jackalope, an imaginary animal that happens to be the state symbol of Wyoming in the US. Along with this whimsical creature, I also gave Raymond a copy of my transformational children’s book “Gloriousness.”
Later that day, I received a message from Raymond saying he looked forward to reading “Gloriousness” with his own daughter. As a parent myself, this warmed my heart. We have a duty to pass on the light of creativity, imagination and knowledge to the next generation.
Books like “Gloriousness” allow children to unlock their limitless potential and explore new worlds. The whimsy of the Jackalope reminds us to keep our childlike curiosity alive. Though Raymond holds an important government position, he understands the magic of igniting young minds.
Parents, mentors and leaders must kindle the fire of creativity in our youth. Their glory still lies ahead of them; let us fan the flames so they may shine brightly. We must gift them the tools to imagine and build the future.
What are you doing today to inspire the young people in your life?
